Shh.... don't look now.... [13 May 2014|03:39pm]

Don't look now, but the BSCF is coming up on 30 years old.  Next to the newspaper, the radio station, the community service group, and the yearbook, it's one of the oldest active clubs on campus!

LARP Evening: A Brief Journey Home and That McGovern Girl [02 Dec 2010|11:46pm]

Good evening!

I'm here to announce two one-hour LARP events running in a private Somerville location on the evening of December 17th. We have some open slots we need to fill and are currently looking for players to fill 'em.

If you're interested, please e-mail me at cyndycooper42@gmail.com.

4/6 roles filled; game can run

They were mass-murderers, fugitives from the security forces on their homeworld, an isolationist human colony called Kelos. They had bribed and thieved their way off planet, leaving bodies in their wake, and the Kelosians were unwilling and unable to leave their planet to pursue.

Enter the Intergalactic Bounty Hunter Association. These brave and ruthless men and women operate just outside the law, doing dirty jobs that no one else has the stomach for and putting their lives on the line for a hefty credit bonus.

The Sky Sharks, a particularly successful hunter team, have managed to apprehend the fugitives in full accordance with the law. Since no one is allowed to land on Kelos, they've arranged to transport them to Barbican, an orbital space station on a mining world on the outskirts of the system. There they'll be handed over to the Kelosian authorities.

5/10 roles filled; game requires 3 more to run

When you work in the skies you live in constant motion ... you can be locked in a warm embrace and lost to sight in the endless blue an hour later. A family of the skies is bound together by love; lose sight of that and everything falls apart.

So, four times a year, Colonel Robert McGovern (ret.) calls together his scattered children from across the country for a family reunion and a meal at Chong's, the best restaurant in town.

It's a time to reconnect, maintain the ties, to ensure that none can slip the binds that hold together the McGovern family.

Anyone still out there?

Trying to dig up a little history of the BSCF. Got any founding stories for me? At this point the club is (gasp!) close to 20 years old, and I'd like to find out if we missed the birthday, or if we should start planning it.

Party possibility [10 May 2004|08:18pm]

On the weekend of June 10 through June 13, who is in the Boston area, who would like to get together at a social gathering (all alumni, friends, spouses, kids, significant others, etc. . . .) that is off of the Brandeis campus?

I'm willing to spring for the food and beverages.

Do we have volunteers who would like to host said event?

If yes, do you have a location, date, and time in mind?

announcement [03 Apr 2004|07:01pm]

dkap, another BSCF alum who's not on LJ, writes:

Please, pass the below on to any or all once and future members of the BSCF, known or unknown, found, missing, or otherwise in control of the orbital mind-control lasers.

Ok ... so I got bored, and got tired of losing people. Three more this time.

So I grabbed the bscf.us domain.

Now if you want to be able to be found, or at least, have an interesting, short address ... or even find out what's going on today in said club, let me know for the former, and I'll add your address to the list, and as for the later, I wended my way through the twisty passages, all alike, to find that the BSCF page (which is now pointed to by www.bscf.us, and bscf.us) was just about where I remembered it to be. And gaming goes on there, still, every Thursday night.

Goljerp gazette... [01 Apr 2004|12:46pm]

I just sent an E-mail to people on my Goljerp E-mail list. However, considering the fact that it's been months since I last sent out an E-mail, it would not surprise me if people don't get it.

So, if you know what I'm talking about, and feel you should've gotten it, send me an E-mail or comment on this post. If you don't know, tell yourself that this is all just an elaborate April Fool's day joke, but you saw right through it. What kind of a gullible person does this Goljerp person think you are, anyhow?

It's Amy (from the class of '93 -- if you still can't figure out which one I am, I was the one who dated Zitomer my first year and hung around with Jason)

For those of you who haven't heard from me lately, I figured I'd go ahead and get a freebie account to keep track of people and so I could post to you guys without a hassle. Let's see the quick synopsis is I'm married, I have a toddler daughter, and I'm working maintaining websites and mailing lists.

hmmm... [19 Feb 2004|11:33am]

[ mood | indescribable ]

Little Russia in Harvard Square is closing. It was owned by Vera's (Brandeis '90) parents. I wonder how Vera and Phil are doing?

(There's a philbo on LJ, but it's unclear if he's "our" Philbo.)

Website [03 Jan 2004|10:38pm]

[ mood | contemplative ]

I was impressed with the fact that the club now has a website.

However, I was surprised at the lack of comment on games. Do they play Star Fleet Battles these days, or is it just in the closet? Considering the fact that the game nights are Thursdays, that certainly wouldn't lend itself to Star Fleet Battles, Titan or Diplomacy.

The nice part I like is in the charter with the fact that alumni can become members, provided they attend two meetings a semester. Bit of a problem for those of us on the west coast. The only thing I can see to do about that is see if nesher, jhitchin, and any others in the area are up for a round of Illuminati or something else one of these days.

Goljerp Gazette? [11 Dec 2002|08:13am]

Anyone here not get my most recent Goljerp Gazette who should've? (If you know who I am and what I'm talking about, you should've.)

Also, I should mention that I've been organizing Goljerp Gaming in NYC every month or so... if you're not already getting information about that, let me know. (Next time is 12/22). I have actually been somewhat successful in drawing in non-gamers with easy games, and then sucking them in... (I don't think the group is up for Starfleet Battles yet, though...)

I find this to be incredibly scary... [16 Jun 2002|07:16am]

[ mood | appalled ]

...especially since it means that nothing has happened to improve the situation since DAC and I discussed it in our Grad suite in 1991.

Take the quiz, it's scary.

(Thanks to my non-alum, but very weird, friend bikergeek for the link.)

later generations [11 Jun 2002|04:48pm]

... or maybe you attended Brandeis after 1994. I know for a fact that there's a very recent BSCF president here on LJ, so I told her about this community. Hopefully she'll bring some others from more recent BSCF generations over.

Welcome to BSCF! [11 Jun 2002|07:44am]

[ mood | seductive ]

If you're here, you probably attended Brandeis between 1986-1994 and participated in Double Visions, Saturday night Star Trek-watching in the Castle Commons, Illuminati games in the Castle Commons, are familiar with the movies Highlander and Buckaroo Banzai, know what happens when words are enclosed by "GUG" and "fnord", and fear the BSS, Otto, Heinrich, and the Portable Thermonuclear Device.

You can post nearly anything here -- stories, poetry, artwork, community announcements... if it seems off-topic or spammy, we'll let you know!

Welcome back!
